LiDAR is Light Detection and Ranging and has been implemented in Telco since 3 to 4 years back. Is the technology uses laser pulse to generate large amount of data about the physical layout of terrain and landscape features. Widely use by forestry land management industries and has been plan as option to replace traditional LOS and Path Survey. Not expensive if more volume data requested. Very efficient and less time consume for obtain the Line of Sight Survey result compare to traditional.

Not all area especially rural or even though urban area can be implemented traditional LOS survey. Difficult access to site especially collocated site, difficult access to dense forest especially to design backbone MW network in which tower not ready and not available cherry picker/crane and to check possible obstacle inside forest area and even for urban area where difficult to access the private site for granted permission access by building owner and other problem raised will delay the network design.  

The document attached actually to show little weakness for implemented LiDAR that need to concern when design the link(inside Line Sight and Fresnel zone) cross High Power Line Cable as we knew the cable size of High Power Line can attenuate the RF signal.
